April 2, 2020 –
As COVID-19 continues to spread, Harrisburg University continues to take action to limit personal contact consistent with the Pennsylvania Governor’s Proclamation. Harrisburg University will offer the Summer Semester (May 1 – August 14) completely online. No face-to-face sessions will be held. No student access to laboratories or classrooms will be provided. Determinations regarding availability of summer housing for students currently in housing are still being considered. As soon as additional information becomes available, an update will be sent.
We are focused on ensuring that our students academically succeed with as little interruption as possible while safeguarding everyone’s health, safety and welfare. You will be sent directions on how to access your courses in Canvas and Adobe Connect as well as information on support resources and services should you need them. Students that would like to review the online canvas orientation can go to this link: https://harrisburgu.instructure.com/courses/480 Students that have questions regarding availability of financial aid for the summer should contact firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
We will continue working closely with community partners and follow guidance of state and federal health agencies, and we will update the campus community as additional information becomes available. Updated information will be posted to a dedicated page on HU’s public website that will be available at: https://covid.harrisburgu.edu/. As circumstances warrant, updates will also be posted to HU’s social media sites and through its text messaging system, Omnilert.
Please note that any HU student who is experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, or academic stress as a result of this issue should contact the BHS Student Assistance Program. They can login via the app/web, https://portal.bhsonline.com, or call 800-327-2251. The username is HarrisburgU. Outreach to BHS is confidential, and each student is assigned a master’s level clinician as a care coordinator. BHS will provide HU students with quality, in-themoment support.
