March 28, 2022
Effective Monday, April 4, 2022 HU will end its indoor mask mandate for all students and employees. Students and employees may still choose to wear a mask voluntarily.
Please keep in mind that a mask provides individuals with additional protection. If you choose not to wear a mask, please respect that others may need to or choose to remain masked. If you are meeting with a staff member, faculty member, or a peer in an enclosed space, please ask them if they are comfortable meeting with you while you are unmasked. Remember, virtual appointments are also an option for all functional areas. You can find a list of office and virtual appointment hours HERE.
Students are also welcome to inform an unmasked employee in an enclosed space that they are uncomfortable meeting with unmasked individuals. We hope that our community feels safe enough to engage in a respectful dialog about masking and social distancing. If you need help with that conversation, you can reach out to email@example.com.
Although the indoor mask policy is being relaxed, we must not let our guard down against COVID-19. Please continue to take appropriate and proactive steps to protect yourself and others: Responding to COVID-19 | PA.GOV. Students who experience COVID symptoms should plan to be tested for COVID and refrain from working on campus until symptoms are no longer present. If there is an increase in positive COVID-test results or a change in state or local guidelines, the mask mandate may be implemented again.
Students can send their questions and suggestions regarding COVID: COVID19@harrisburgu.edu.
Any HU student who is experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, or academic stress as a result of recent events is welcome to contact the HU Counseling Center, firstname.lastname@example.org or call (717) 901-5100 x 1727 or go to https://myharrisburgu.sharepoint.com/sites/SSCounseling. HU also provides the BHS Student Assistance Program free of charge to all students. You can login via the app/web, https://portal.bhsonline.com, or call 800-327-2251. The username is HarrisburgU. Outreach to BHS is confidential, and each student is assigned a master’s level clinician as a care coordinator. BHS will provide HU students with quality, in-the-moment support.
